My daughter will hunting this fall with an Encore chamber in .25-06. I immediately thought the .25 WSSM would be the cat's meow for her. But like you all know TC will not be chambering the shorties. Anyone know if TC will be changing their minds or does anyone know of someone who is chambering the Encore barrels? Thanks in advance

Doubt they are going to change their collective minds. .555" is too large a diameter for this particular action design when dealing with chamber pressures in the 60k PSI range. IMO. If you are concerned about recoil and want to stick with a 1/4 bore the standard Roberts or the AI version are nice rounds.

Just got my barrel back from Bullberry It was a 24" 300 WSM and now a 22" 308. I had pressure problem with WSM as the throat is real short and the pressure way high. The bullet has to be seated deep in the brass to get factory AOL. I wasn't worried about the barrel being strong enough it is the frame being abale to handle the high pressure. I have a 300 win mag if I want more speed. Stay with the 25-06 and standard calibers. My 2 cents.

I have been toying with the idea of rechambering to .257 Weatherby. Any thoughts there instead of a shorty mag?

First off, I don't see where the 25 WSSM is any better than the standard 25-06. The brass will cost more as well. I agree that due to the case size and the fact that T/C barrels have to fit inside the current frame dimensions, it will most likely not happen. Also, I have had the 257 Weatherby Mag....sold it and bought me a 25-06 barrel for the Encore. I never have liked belted Mags..........
