Got this rifle at gun Show ! Dixie Gun works on bottom of barrel, original chambereding 45/70 ! Now a 45/90 ! Question does anyone have a 45/90 Bodine ? If so ? is the hammer an issue when loading Brass ? I must pull back on hammer to load a round in chamber, only way to load a 500 Gr. round is to take kammer out of action ! I wrote to Dixie ! No answers for problem ! Contacted Pedersoli ! No replies yet ! Thanks concho Don't take the chip !

I have the Adobe Wall version of the same rifle in .45-70 and have the same issue with long 550 grain cast bullets. The fix is to slightly reshape the top of the hammer nose to allow for clearance. I would suggest that you contact Lee Shaver to do the work, as he routinely does this conversion and is Pedersoli's authorized warranty person in the U.S. for these guns. Lee's web site is http://www.egunsmith.com/. Dave One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

Dave what weight bullets did you find that gave the best accuracy / I tried from 300 to 520 grain using Hodgtons T72F Fed Primers 215 Mag and card wad .030, I use Hodgtons T73F but was out of it when I loaded these for testing, best group was 2" at 50 yards . Please advise your best loads for this rifle . Thanks concho Don't take the chip !
