Scoping a Ruger SS

Hello Guys

I'm assembling the various elements for a rebuilt Ruger #3, and am about to buy a new scope (for another rifle just now, but I have a bit of spare cash, so might go the whole hog and get something with a view that one day it might grace the Ruger) and was wondering about eye relief and action clearance.

My Ruger will be in 257 Roberts so recoil won't be an issue, however if anyone has used or thought about using a LER scope, mounted to clear the breech your views would be appreciated. As I will be doing a custom barrel I'll be doing special mounts anyway, so don't see this as an issue. It will also be restocked.

Pluses I see in this would be ease of reloading, and very low scope placement (sometimes not an advantage I know), negatives are the reduced FOV of LER scopes, and ??

Cheers - Foster
