Rich,

I have several, you have a question? They are up there lately, however, you can find a deal if you look hard enough.

All of mine shoot quite well, I have barrels in five calibers and I've hunted with them all except the 7mm'08. I have one 87' that is a "Hunter" model and the rest are 83's and "Aristocrat" models, the difference is the finish on the blue is much nicer on the Aristocrat and it has a double set trigger.

I hope this helps,

I had one, with a couple of barrels. Finally sold it because of poor fit to me. With a scope mounted, my lower jaw was against the cheekpiece (jawpiece?). Mine fit OK using open sights. See how it fits before buying one.

I had one of the ones with double-set trigger. I liked the way it handled and the weight was very little. However, it had "variable accuracy". The .22/250 barrel was very accurate. The .243 barrel had very poor accuracy, and the .30/'06 was "average". I really got mad when TC stopped making barrels for them. They used their fire as an excuse, but I think if the market had been good, they would have found a way to start making the barrels again. They certainly can make barrels for those ugly single-shots they make on pistol frames!

There may have been some action strength issues with them also. Too bad. They were pretty rifles.

I sold mine, along with the barrels, for more than I paid for the gun/barrels, so can't complain...

Marcos

I was wondering about the accuracy and reliability and why it was discontinued. I did a search and saw a few posts about them, that a fire destroyed the factory.

In my opinion, T/C should have brought the TCR rifle back rather than marketing their stupid Icon.

Have to go along with wanting them back. I had an Aristocat in 219 Donaldson Wasp and the accuracy was second to none. Prefer them over ANY single shot I've owned. Wish I had mine back but didn't think they would go so high in price or they would be so hard to find when I sold mine.

Rich,

With my TCRs I have found that they can be as accurate as any of my HUNTING rifles. The .223 barrel shoots between .5 & 1" but heats up after ten rounds, the bigger calibers all shoot around an inch and heat up quicker, they are not meant to be shoot rapid fire. I have not had a problem with any of my TCRs, they are easy to carry and once you are used to them, quick to reload and fire follow-up shots.

I don't know what they sold for in their day but they look expensive to make, I have always felt that the "fire" gave TC an opportunity to reevaluate the cost and profit on these and decided to not tool up for them.

Hope this helps,

Marcos (elalto)

I have a TCR 83 Aristocrat in .243 Win. It's accuracy varies from 1" to 3" with no ryme or reason. From handloads to factory loads, you just never know where the bullets gonna end up?
