Is it feasible to convert an older Winchester Hi Wall currently chambered in .25 Krag Improved to 25 WSSM? Can modern extractor parts be used to change it from rimmed cartridge to rimless extraction? Thanks for any help.Frank.

can be done, but not easy and why?? I think snapps gunshop makes an extractor, but the 25 krag with its rim is for the hiwall. Also remember that a lot of the ballastic hype on the short mags ignores the fact that they work at 65000 not the 50000 we are all used to. boosting the pressure curve to 65000 might not be to good on the hiwall, depending on its condition and treating. also if you want to boost pressure that high, the krag will outshine the shortmag.

Is the highwall strong enough for the increased rearward pressure provided by the increased surface area of the bigger dia. case? Loren.

in all probability the latter hiwall is plenty strong enuf, but the earlier ones were quite a bit softer and the steel would strech. All and all I for one wouldn't try it. Too much to loose and nothing to gain
