I decided to get ready for deer season and took several rifles to the range. A Ruger #1 in 45-70, Marlin 1895, Mosin M39 and Mosin m38. Loads were worked up in the 1895 and the M38 was impressive as to how it shot.

The real surprise came with the #1. I had worked up a load years ago with a Remington 300 gr. JHP and 50.0 grs. of IMR 4198. While trying to sight in I obtained these two back to back 3 shot groups!

My shoulder seems sore today.

Very nice work. I find the .45-70 to be a wonderfully flexible cartridge capable of fine accuracy. Your No. 1 is obviously a keeper.

Wow! That is great. Mine shoots fairly well, but not that well. Have to try it again!
