I decided to get ready for deer season and took several rifles to the range. A Ruger #1 in 45-70, Marlin 1895, Mosin M39 and Mosin m38. Loads were worked up in the 1895 and the M38 was impressive as to how it shot. The real surprise came with the #1. I had worked up a load years ago with a Remington 300 gr. JHP and 50.0 grs. of IMR 4198. While trying to sight in I obtained these two back to back 3 shot groups! My shoulder seems sore today.

Very nice work. I find the .45-70 to be a wonderfully flexible cartridge capable of fine accuracy. Your No. 1 is obviously a keeper. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Wow! That is great. Mine shoots fairly well, but not that well. Have to try it again! Peter Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;
