Steve Bertram has a rare Farquharson on offer right now which has this crest inlaid into the stock:

Someone of Royalty for sure but the date is later than when this rifle was made, correct?
I thought I read somewhere that Abdul Rahim Sait was the son of the Sultan (of where I cannot recall).
Perhaps a present?

Can anyone shed some light on who this man was?

I've found a court case here:

The owner of Salisbury Estate.
Also, if the court case man is the correct person, geni.com has him living from around 1853 to 1963

Makes sense that it is the correct person.

I really wonder what the original owner used it for? I hope it was not just a show piece because he was wealthy and he actually used it!

I wonder at the significance of the date.

Madras is now Chennai I was told by a work colleague.
