Does anyone here shoot a NEF ? I am considering a .270 and am curious as if they are worth a gamble. Maybe a 30/06 barrel too. Any info would be appreciated.

I own one action/frame and two barrels a 26" .280 and a 24' heavy .223. I could not be happier with either. Both will shoot inside an inch at 100 yds with factory ammo. The .223 will do .5" with handloads. I am considering sending the action back to be fitted for a 25-06 tube and a lightening of the trigger. My only suggestion to would be to upgrade the aluminum base to the steel version and by the best cross slot rings you can find. I use the Leupold QRWs and tighten them with a pair of padded pliers.
Good Luck I think it will be a little money very well spent.

I'm about the same. Been shooting the NEF with two barrels, 45-70 and 22 Hornet for nine and four years respectively. Both shoot into an inch or less at 100 yds; I've had the 45-70 shoot into an inch and a half at 200 yds the one time I shot it that far. Luckily, mine came with a excellent 2.5 lb trigger, seems to be the biggest complaint about them. NEF is providing a new scope base that has a set screw that can be used to lick the "scope base whip" problem(which I've never had). Outside of that, mine just keeps on dropping deer, bear, small game etc, with almost boring regularity. Not that I'm complaining.

I owen a NEF in .270 win. The only problem that I had was a tight chamber. All I did was take some polish to the chamber and fixed the problem.

I have one in 22rimfire and one in 243win! Great value for the money, plus you can get assesory barrels. Right now mine is geting a 357mag barrel and I can't wait for it to come back!! [Roll Eyes]
Both will shoot good enough to hunt(1-1.5 MOA) but won't win any benchrest matches.
