| I guess I am confused by your post. I am looking for a Hall falling block receiver built by Allan Hall of Alabama. Butch |

| I'm sorry....I was reading too fast and sipping some scotch. I thought it said 1/2.....I figured you were making a cut away for display. I'll try to slow down next time. Steve |

| Butch,
good luck on that one. Alan and I have been friends for several years. Those actions were about $1700 IIRC and only in production for a year or two, when Larry was working in the shop with his dad.

| I too had an interest, then someone at the SHOT show in Orlando brought to my attention an issue with extraction, seems like there were some 'issues' so I have changed my interest in that action.
It did seem like a nice action. |

| BL,
good luck. Keep bugging him, maybe he will sell it to you to get you off his front porch swing.

| I am one of the lucky people who have not one but two hall actions. One is aready build into a 308 rifle by classic barrel and rifle works and has shot into 1/2 group with berger 168 hunting bullets at 300 yards. So far I have taken 9 deer here in Kansas and have only fired 10 shots. (everyone can have a bad day). The second action is with the gunsmith now being made into a 300 H&H. If you can get one they are out of the world accurate I have never had an extraction problem with the action shooting 308 loads koads as listed on any manual |

| http://www.hallmfg.com/html/falling_block.htmlRNB, I was just repeating what I heard a well known SMITH who now teaches at the CO gunsmith school. It is too bad there are not more options for fine actions. Guess I'll have to settle for some single shots with BOLT handles attached |

| They did have some extraction issues, but it is as smooth an action that I have cycled. Butch |

| When I first got the rifle in 6mm br I had some problem with it being hard opening with almost all loads, no matter what I tried, so I had the barrel re bored to 308 caliber and chambered in a tight 308 match chamber and all the problem went away. I don't feel that its an extractor problem but how the action locks up and you must reset the trigger system when the action is opened, but that being said I have never had any gun shoot as good as this action and barrel even with just a 10 power hunting scope from Doctor optic, I was a police sniper for 32 years and I have had some of the best rated weapons systems and optics on the market but nothing I have will out shoot this rifle. I will try to post photos of the 308 but I must wait till my son home from college to do so, so that it is done right |

| Hi Butch, I had a Low Wall via Browning in a 243, that thing was SILKY smooth I thought.
Robert, that is too bad, a 6BR or 6.5x47 is what I'd want in one.
That said, I had a buddy who acquired a 6.5BR in an MOA carbine, 22" around 95 or '96 and it shot ONE hole groups, 100gr b tips. I was VERY interested in the gun and impressed but the thing was a pain to load. Once loaded, the trigger was unreal as the accuracy. I regret not buying that gun.
If someone made an action like the Hall, I'd want one if there were not issues on extraction for cartridges I'd want in one. Maybe I'd be plenty happy with another Low Wall.....in my caliber (as in Barrel) of choice! Just need a good trigger job to go along with it. |
