I have an opportunity to purchase a sharps 45-70, the owner swears he purchased it about 25 years ago, he calling it a real Scharps, made in the USA, and it was made in Cody Wyoming. I thought Sharps and C Sharps are from Montana. Did Scharps have a factory in Wyoming?? Any help will be appreciated. bearden

I know that Shiloh started off in the east and the rifle will have thier name on it if it was made by them. Shiloh is hands down the best by the way. Both C. Sharps and Shiloh are in Big Timber, Montana now and have been for years. I dont know if either were ever in Wyoming. DRSS

Is this a "Real" Sharps Rifle? FW Freund was a Sharps, etc gunsmith about the 1870's and later. He had store/gunshops in Denver, also in Durango and Cheyenne. Does the rifle have any markings with his name or Wyoming Armory on it? Rich

As mentioned, the Shiloh Sharps is considered top of the line and Chisana has one posted which is actually a deal for someone interested in a fine rifle. It is a #1 Sporter w/ upgrades plus RHO 6x period scope included. Delivery used to be really extended on Shiloh and with the upgrades the asking price is a very fair price. Might want to check it out.
