Am deviating from the CRF/Steel only mode and am now going into the Encore mode as the base for an in-line ML and some unique calibers. Now the question becomes: which scope mount base/ring system. I like steel and I like solid. Don't need the drama of POI shifting around. I appreciate QD and can accept a slight (key word SLIGHT) shift of POI. But above everything else I like SOLID. So what works and what doesn't????

I use Warne bases with their quick detach rings. There is no shift in POA with scope removal and reattachment and as your Encore barrel addiction grows, you can easily switch scopes between barrels. Also, when you remove the scope from the base, you can still use the iron sights on your barrel if it has them. I would not use quick detach scope rings on heavy recoiling handgun barrels however. For those, I like SSK Industries T'SOB bases/rings.

I'll second the Warne base and rings

I will also recommend Warne bases and rings, though I use the permanent and not the quick-detach. Two other topflight choices for bases are from www.matchgrademachine.com and Stratton Custom, the latter of which is available through midwayusa.com Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri
