Yes,
But most of it starts with throwing away the factory Ruger trigger, and installing either a Moyers or Kepplinger trigger...
The Moyers is actually the original Ruger trigger, from back when it was still really adjustable, before the 'lawyer-days'
That is the best way of doing things.

POP,
If you are really interested in "wringing" the accuracy of a #1, as mentioned above, I strongly recommend you replace the trigger. The Kepplinger ( from Brownells) is a bit pricy ( I have on two of mine), but once you shoot a #1 with a Kepplinger, you'll not be satisfied with any thing else.

The early No. 1's have a trigger that is quite adjustable. The newer ones do not, and I don't know at what SN the design change was made. My 1969 7mm Rem. Mag. 1B has an excellent trigger, while my more recent 1H .375 H&H is pretty sorry. I have it down to 3.5 pounds, but it still feels "weird" at letoff!

I have a Canjar single-set on one of mine, and it has a very decent pull UNSET. I don't like single-set triggers for hunting because setting them can be pretty tricky in cold weather with stiff, cold fingers. However, the double-set kind are the best of all possible hunting triggers, IF one is willing to learn how to use them correctly. Unfortunately, there isn't room for a DST in the No. 1 triggerguard area. That's why Heym uses an SST on their version of the No. 1. Some seem to think any kind of a set trigger is better than a single-stage, but I disagree!

Took both (204 Ruger and 270 Win) of mine apart last night and did some honing. 204 breaks at 1.75 lbs and my 270 at 2.75 lbs. Nice! Tried everything to get them to fire without pressing the trigger...no dice!

POP, Try Ruger-1 group on yahoo.com. There is a lot of info there, especially in the files. I have a Kepplinger trigger on my 280. I like it and recommend it. I thought I read some where that the triggers were now made out of sintered metal and could not be safely honed. Can't recall. But there is something out about this.
