Dakota #10 vs Blaser K95

Thoughts about the Dakota 10 vs. the Blaser K95? I have a Dakota that I really like, and was going to have another one put together with a Lilja octagonal and some other touches. But, yesterday, handled a Blaser K95 and like some of the features on it. Also, how do you get around the problem with cleaning the #10? The rod seems to ride on the safety when I try to clean from the breech. Anyone had a groove milled into the safety to allow the rod to clear?

Jim,

I have a Dakota 10 that I love too, stocked in cocobolo wood (35 Whelen Ackley Improved).

If you already have a Dakota, why not get the Blaser?

I have NEVER heard anyone say they didn't love the Blaser they owned (of course the same is true of the Dakota!)

I have a Blaser K95, and have been wanting a #10 of course! But I think Ill stick with the Blaser cause its ligther (I think) and because its a take-down, wich the #10 still is not as far as I know. I guess the nbr of chamberings available is less, but the most popular ones are there together with some european goodies (like the 9,3x74R). Mine is a 7RM, the belted rimless case works ok with the K95.

It's a beautiful little rifle in looks, feel and function. The accuracy is impressive. The factory is very helpful.

My 24" barreled 6.5x57R weighs in at 6.5lbs with a 13oz scope on it. Has accounted for roe bucks out to 250yards.

This is one nice rifle. I like to see a close up of the scope mount from both sides. The factory picture shows a scope with a bottom rail. No rings. Your mount has rings. Which I would prefer. Is your mount by Blaser? Thanks Fred M.

Blaser makes their mount for both rails and rings.

Thanks for the compliment. It's a stock blaser ring mount with the rings lowered by about 3/8ths of an inch by my gunsmith.
