I recently picked up one of these actions at a gunshow and ideas of a new toy filled my brain. I did some research and learned they where used by the Egyptian Government in a shotgun using a proprietary 14gauge shell. I was just wondering if anyone had experience or heard of anyone converting one of these into a rifle, mainly .45-70 and so on.

I've got a Martini Greener in 45/70 and another in 12ga.
I love them! They are both mucho fun to shoot. But I don't have a clue what the 45/70 I have is actually good for. It is varmint accurate, but chambered for that rainbow trajectory 45 with a bullet big enough for about anything. And mine has a Shilen octagon barrel that is REAL heavy, so I don't care to carry it too far. But it is a good tool to see how accurate that ol' 45/70Govt. can be, and it is very good looking too.
The 12ga. is a much more plain looking gun, I use it for tree squirrels when the dog goes with me. Very good utility, that one.
Be very careful buying Martini's. If you are weak willed like me, you'll end up with a cabinet full of them.

i converted one of those shotgun actioned martini's years ago to 45 colt that the customer wanted. if yours still has that multi prongrd firing pin set up ,you will have to have it converted to a standard style.

Shooter 42, I was just reading about that and apparently you can simply grind it off to a stanard tip.
TD, are you using blackpowder loads in the .45-70 or full power smokeless? I was thinking since I already have a 45-70 lever gun, something like a .40-70 Sharps Necked.
