Seems like there was some discussion on it not too long ago. I wonder if it's on CZ's website...

Haven't seen it. But within the past year or so, I heard about one, which CZ said they did not intend to market in the U.S. Did they change their minds, or is this a different rifle??

Yeah, we drooled over 'em a couple of months or so ago.

They are now, I believe, at least listed on the CZUSA website. Still haven't heard if they're going to make them available here though.

Ken,
You are right. I found the photo under BRNO guns at the CZ-USA website.

Now, how do I go about loading a photo?

I'm glad to see another single shot on the market.

Having said that, it's got a lot going against it. While the forend looks good, the stock is flat out ugly. It may work pretty good, but it is still ugly as sin. The sights limit it to 200 yards or so, and could be a lot different and a lot better. But the real deal breaker is that it is a top break action. It should be a falling block. I don't want a single shot rifle that looks like a shotgun.

There will be lots of personal preferences debated here, no doubt. I wonder if it's drilled and tapped for optics?
I like a falling block action but the break open action doesn't bother me. I have a k95 and it's as elegant as anything I've ever held and most certainly doesn't remotely resemble a shotgun, in my opinion... Big Grin

It looks like a break action and the top to the barrel might be a dovetail base. The stock has to radical a drop for any hard kicking rifles.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Wink To me it has good, clean lines and I like it. The real question is how does it perform. With open sights I am not sure a 200 yard "limitation" is a bad one. That's why the good Lord invented aperture sights and scopes. stir

I was plenty impressed by these, =to the extent of asking our wholesaler to find out the $.

Here in NZ these will cost more than a Sako 85 (which I know is not a single shot). Brno/CZ have not been able to match Sako's quality since the 1960's so I wouldn't have too high an expectation of the level of finish and function of the Effect.

Cheers

Tentman,
Let us know what you find out of pricing, if you don't mind.

I have two Brno/CZ/FS (30-06 & 9.3X62) with the Bavarian stock and have grown to love them... they fit me perfect...I wouldn't buy one in a 30-06 but would be tempted if CZ/USA would import them in the 6.5X57R or 7X64R, and didn't charge more than a Ruger #1 for them....
see this link to the Cezech. website (not CZ/USA)..

Cliff On the CZ/USA website they list a price of $1585.00 US (MSRP) for the "Effect"...For that price I think I'll hold out for a Blaser K95 like you have...

I guess what you are saying is that you won't be getting one of these rifles eh sharpsguy?...

Low Wall...thanks for the info. You're right, the K95 is like meth. Once you get it in your blood, you're hooked.

Here in NZ the retail was $3000 which is $1620 $US. The wholesale price here (I get on pretty good with my gunstore owner) was $US1204.

Cheers

Low Wall--I guess not. Another thing I wonder about is if the CZ has an ejector or is simply equipped with an extractor.

I suppose the 1874 Sharps has spoiled me. Ejector, set triggers, falling block, a wide range of calibers, and iron sights that let you reach anything you need to. I do not understand having a rifle that limits you to 200 yards, and in 30-06 at that.

I can live with the Bavarian cheekpiece. It looks like it has a rib base on the barrel for scope mount rings, which takes care of the sights problem. I personally like the break-top action. Should be plenty stout.

Does anyone know whether the Effect has a selective ejector?
