I got my Ruger #1, 45-70, back from Nonneman's with a new 26" barrel and took it to the range today along with some break-in loads with jacketed bullets. The longer heavier barrel makes it pleasant to shoot compared to the original and the accuracy potential is obviously very good. The bore is very smooth and cleaning was a snap.
It's very similar to the picture on Nonneman's web site. http://www.leveractions.com/. Click on Ruger No. 1

Good looking rifle from the picture. I’ve been wondering who rebarrels No 1s.

What do you think of the fit and finish, and what was the turn around time on the job?

MickinColo,

For the price ($450) I'm pleased with the fit & finish, and they use Douglas barrels. My job took 5 months. Pac-Nor also rebarrels #1s.
