i replied to your post below. as said, they are a 250 dollar gun, they shoot like one and they look like one. but for a guy that goes hunting once a year for deer, they aren't too bad. on mine, the wood to metal fit is decent, but not brought down flush with the metal. it shoots about 2 minutes all the time and i didn't get any better out of several handloads i tried. only shot it at 100yds. didn't shoot anything really hot, so extraction was never a problem. they seem pretty ruggid, trigger is ruggid, too. it can be cleaned up, though i didn't doo much about all the travel. i took a little out, but the trigger block safety made me nervous about get it as short as i would like it to be. it smoothed up and lightened up alot after a good stoning, but still pretty long on the haul. mine is '06, and as stated, it let's you know it's a 6 pound gun!, with lots of drop at the heel, it jumps pretty good. with no cheek piece, you head is kind of floating around, too, that makes the recoil seem worse, as well. in .243, it might not be all that harsh, though. on a few other forums there was quite a bit of talk about not being able to get decent fitting rings that stay put. the recoil is enough to drive the rings right off the dovetails, infact several others have posted that they had good scopes hit the ground on them after as few as 6 or 7 shots. several have made thier own bases that slide on the dovetails and lock in place with a setscrew. you definatly have to get good rings, no cheap aluminum .22 rings will stay on any of the more potent chamberings they come in. i explained what i did to cure mine in my post on your other thread. i wish they would have made some in 7x57 , i think that would be an ideal cartridge for this gun. | |||
