i recently acquired a ruger no.1 in 220 swift.it is the varmint model.upon mounting a scope i was unable to bore sight the windage adjustment without shimming the scope.i tried 3 different scopes so i know it was not the scope.i switced the rings and the problem persisted.has anyone experienced the same problem and is there a solution other the shims? my no1 tropical had no such problem.

Are the bases in line with the bore or are they crooked?

try reversing the rings. (front one to back back one to front) that should tell lyou whether its the rings or not

I don't think it is typical but it can happen. If the shims work.... or get it to someone who can fix it.

I have the Ruger #1V in the 220 swift and it was okay, so this is a bit unusal.

I am curious on how you shimmed the windage adjustments with (I assume) ruger rings?
