Might try keeping an eye on Gunbroker.com and Auctionarms.com, they show up there pretty regularly. Hang on to your checkbook, though, some folks are mighty proud of them... Greg

Thanks for the reply. I've been watching them all even ebay, but haven't seen one since I've been looking. I'll just keep beating the pavement till one shoes up.

A friend of mine has been looking for one for a awhile.he has a line on a few of them now,he has met a few older winchester collectors at gun shows and gotten to know some of them and through the grape vine has found out a few of them are around. He found an original 1873 winchester in 22 short a while back.So my advice would be to make the gun show rounds and auctions and get to know some of the regulars, espcially the winchester collectors, and sooner or later someone will know somebody who has one for sale. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********

Mr. Wildcat: What would such a barrel be worth? I have one that is great on the inside but a lot more brown than blue on the outside. No holes. Has what appears to be the original front sight. At least it looks as old as the barrel. Glenn

hst. Can you send pictures? I would think that about 100.00 would be a very fair price. Check around and see if someone says something different. I have bought three in the past and paid fron 25.00 to 100.00 for the best. Thanks for your reply. Wildcat
