I've got my heart set on one of the new Bushmaster "Predator" AR's but thats simply not in the budget at this point. I've got a T/C Encore 209/50 and thought I'd just pick up a barrel for it until I can do the AR thing.

I'd like to get a 204 Ruger barrel for predator hunting. T/C has a 204 Ruger barrel but I've heard (read) that it's really hit and miss on getting an accurate barrel from T/C. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) I'd would rather spend just a little more an get a quality barrel the first time out.

I've checked BullBerry and they do not list a 204 Ruger offering for the Encore. They show one for the Continder but not for the Encore. Can anyone recommend a custom or semi-custom barrel maker for the T/C Encore?

Thanks

From Bullberry:

quote:

Caliber List For Accuracy Guaranteed
Encore Barrels

The most complete list in the entire world
These calibers are IN ADDITION TO
the 100 plus centerfire and rimfire calibers already chambered for the Contender®/G2® actions. [Bold added]

The way I read it they will make an Encore barrel in the chamberings they list for Contender. If you do not read it the same way you could always give them a call and ask. I would not email them as they can be spotty about replying since they get so many.

Good luck.

Charles

I think you are probably right. I saw where they had sold a 23" 204 Ruger barrel, so they certianly have made at least one.

I'll give them a call.

Thanks

Be patient if you have trouble getting through -- they don't have a huge multiline phone system and it sometimes take a while to get them. They have always been real nice to me once I got through.

Bullberry will chamber the .204 in the Encore -- no problem. There's also Match Grade Machine (www.matchgrademachine.com), Eben Brown (www.eabco.com), Dave Van Horn in Gilbert, AZ along with SSK (www.sskindustries.com)

MGM and Eben Brown have barrels ready to go in their existing inventory, so you could possibly get one without any waiting. Bullberry also has a small selection on their website.

BB makes fine barrels, but I have a 24" tapered .204 from TC that shoots like a laser...1/2 MOA all day long with factory ammo.

My BB barrels also do better than MOA and are at least $100 more than TC. I have 5 TC and 3 BB barrels and they all shoot really well!!

And add OTT (http://www.ottllc.com/) to the list. I have barrels from most of the custom makers and they are all better made than I get from T/C Custom Shop or standard factory product. To be fair, the newer T/C barrels seem to be of higher and more consistant quality than some of years past. A factory barrel may well be a tack driving machine and will cost less and be available now.

Thanks for adding OTT. That one slipped my mind.
