G'Day Guys
I was after some help. I was looking to buy a thompson pro hunter and wanted to hear from anyone that has/owns one about how accurate they are? The reason i ask is that i have owned a couple of single shot rifles before in this style and found that depending on the hold they varied in point of aim! and hope this is not the case with these rifles?

There is no difference accuracy wise between the older style Encore, the Pro Hunter or the Contender. I'm not sure what "style" of single shot rifle you're referring to.

What I've found across the board is that scoped Encore rifles, Pro Hunter or not, across the board do 1 MOA or better. The only exception to this in my experience was one I had in 375 H&H Magnum that did 1.5 MOA. These would be 3 shot 100 yard groups.

As far as "hold" is concerned; the point of impact of any rifle can be changed by shooting technique but I've not found the Encore to be troublesome in that regard.

This was shot with a regular Encore rifle with a 24 inch barrel at 200 yards. I've now tagged a couple of deer with this load and it works VERY well.

This group was shot with an Encore scoped handgun at 100 yards. The frame was Pro Hunter and the barrel from Match Grade Machine.

Thank you very much sir that answers eveything i need to go and and purchase a pro hunter. I really wanted to get one in 300 H&H but i can only order it through the custom shop with a possible 6-12month wait which could blow out more which is far to long to wait and then found out they will not export from the custom shop....so 300 win mag it is i guess

The Win round will be easier on your barrel over the long haul than would the H&H round...brass is easier to find, too.

Good hunting,

Andy
