I'm thinking of trying one more time to build an accurate Contender Carbine. So far all efforts including a VVCG 7mmx30-30AI have proven less than satisfatory (meaning sub-MOA consistently.)

MY current temptation is a .204 Ruger G2 Carbine barrel. Here are my questions...

1. Will my 14" VVCG hanger bar fit the G2 barrel?

2. Fitted with a Harris bipod and a Leupold 12x scope, will I be able to spot my own shots?

3. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this barrel?

Thanks for taking the time to consider my questions.

I saw a guy with a 17 machIV with the hanger bar set up from VV. It shot poorly. We took the hanger bar off and reworked the forend. It was suprising how much the groups tightened up. I dont think the hanger will work on the G2

You know i had a 7mmx30 waters carbine set up with a 16" factory barrel. I was able to get sub MOA. But i think that was the hardest gun i ever had to shoot.

Actually I have both hangers bars for the 14" and 16/21" barrels. I've been told that my forend will work on the G2 with the longer hanger bar.

Ditto on getting the carbines to shoot. I can consistently shoot my bolt actions and Contender pistols sub-MOA. But I have yet to find a carbine barrel that I can shoot that well.

Maybe the .204 Ruger will be different. I'd sure like to know before I shell out close to $300 to find out. So roll the dice. Maybe this will be the one.

Buy that sucker!!...then tell me if it shoots!!

I want a 22" thin taper in .204 for a walk around gun on the G2. I have a 26" heavy and it shoots real well on the Encore frame. I'm looking for a light gun that shoots 250 yds or so and I can see the impact too.

Interesting experience with the VV hanger bar. I have a 7 TCU Bulberry barrel with their bar on the G2 and it works pretty well...wonder what the difference might be?
