JPH, over here, I am just another learner. There are some real experts here. But I tend to agree. Cast bullet accuracy is all about getting the bullet eased into the bore straight. Things get settled down a mite and we might think about doing a pass around project on a 1 1/2 degree throater.

JP The lead angle of 1.5 deg or alpha 3deg (both sides) is quite common in target bores. The lesser deg. will wear faster but with slower moving lead bullets this should not be the case. With a 0.004" deep groove the horizontal length of 1.5 deg (3.0 deg alpha) lead is 0.1527" halve that with a 6.o deg Alpha. depending on the depth of the groove multiply by cotg 38.19 for 1.5 deg. Yes I believe that you get better accuracy with the 1.5 deg.

jph45, DW was talking quite abit last month about rethroating 45-70's and 450's. I beleive he was useing a reamer on loan by mike bellm till the middle of Feb. You can find him over at bellmtcs.com Seems those that had it done were pretty happy with the results. I generally dont shoot punkin tossers so I cant say for sure. Patrick on H&R
