If it gives you any idea of the quality of Taylor rifle, you don't see experienced people shooting them in competition. There is a reason that they are cheaper than the other guns out there. Of the Italian guns, the only two you see people doing well with in competition are Pedersoli or Cimmaron (which is actually a Pedersoli). Given the current exchange rate, the Pedersoli sharps are not much less money than a C. Sharps or Shiloh built here in the United States of America.

In Europe, the price for a Pedersoli is ~1800.-€ (2400.-US-$). But the price vor a Shiloh standard 1874 sporter #3 is ~3000.- €, this are 4000.- US-$. This is a exchange rate!

I'm glad I don't pay European prices. I noticed when I was in Italy last year that the prices you guys pay for your own guns are higher than what we pay here. The current price on a C. Sharps Bridgeport model or Shiloh #3 sporter here in the U.S.A. is around $1900. A comparable model Pedersoli is about $1,100.

I know, I know ....... Roll Eyes
I´m very satiesfied with my Pedersoly 1874 and it don´t must be a Shiloh (but the nicer are the Shiloh´s Wink), but it´s very interesting with the different prices. My dad is gunsmith and have a small gun store and the cost price I paid for my Pedersoli was ~1500.-€ with tax. This is more as our retail price in USA.
The same is with ammo, bullets, propellant and guns made in USA. Hard to get and expensive to buy.

The most importend problem was the "€" we get. In the past 90´s, I paid for my M1886 2050.-DM, for a High Wall 1850.-DM, for my Rem 700 Sendero with Schmidt&Bender sniper scope 4000.- DM. Much money for a little worker, but payable. Now, I get nearly the same money for my job and the price for a M1886 is about 2500.-€ (~5000.-DM), a Rem700 Sendero 1500.-€ (~3000.-DM) and a good Sniper scope made from S&B 2200.-€ (~4400.-DM). Afer over 10 years, the prices are doubled.
A friend wanted always a Springfield M25. Now I get the retail price, over 6000.-€, 12000.-DM Eeker. In the 80´s a H&K sniper rifle, the PSG, a very accurate rifle with shooting group´s under two inch at 300m, was priced with 13000.-DM incl.the Hensold scope.
