can I get away with low rings on a ruger #1 if I am putting a 2-7x32 scope on it? Or do I /should I get medieum rings, just in case I ever want a 3-9x40 on it?

With the low rings you are liable to bump into the 1/4 rib w/ your scope placed where you need it. What happened to you factory rings?

bought the gun used and the guy I bought it from did not have them...

IO have low rings on my .45/70 with a Leuolpd 2.5X8X scope, but had to remove the rear sight blade from the slot in the rib because the ocular bell hit the sight blade when I tried to mount it.
