I found this Greener Mark III Martini today at a local gun show. I wasn't aware I wanted a Martini before this morning. Now I'm a Martini owner and in the information gathering stage.

One of my friends has one of these and built a rifled 12 bore. I'm thinking a rifled 16 bore or perhaps a 577 BPE. Maybe a 50-110.

I figured I'd better see what some you fellows with more Martini experience thought about these actions. I'm only into it $80 so not hurt too bad if it ends up being a paper weight.

"...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." I like martini's but have only two left as I have been thinning out the "collection" the past several years. I have made the large actions into a 12 shotgun, 45/70, 30-30, 30-30 ai, 25-35. it does appear you have the larger action so go for it. you may have to bush the firing pin hole depending on the cartridge you pick and the breech block is normally harder than woodpecker lips. did it come with the extractor? they are hard to come buy.

Yes, it has the extractor. I believe those tabs in front of the block are extractors. Forgive my ignorance but I'm in uncharted waters for me.

Might I suggest the 30/40AI? Built one back in '69 using an Ackley barrel, still gives me dime size groups w/180gr Hornady and 4831. GW

The possibilities for disaster boggle the mind.

I've got a 30-40 standard in a Krag. I'm leaning more towards a bore rifle perhaps 16 or 12 bore.

That's a shot action from a Greener GP gun. Graham Greener has warned that they are not suitable for rifles. I have the takedown model with smoothbore and rifles 12ga barrels. Stick to shotguns with yours.

That's why I'm leaning toward a 16 or 12 bore rifle operating at shotgun pressures.
