I just picked up an unfired H&R Handi Rifle in .444 Marlin. I've got two boxes of Hornady 265-grain Leverevoulution ammo for it. Load is 2325 fps/3180 ft-lb. No, it's not going to Africa. anyone here have an opinion, good or bad, on this rifle?
I'll use it here in Florida on hogs, and bears if I draw a successful tag.

Well just an opinion but it's light, larger bore and should be fast handling! Sounds like a winner to me. Although when I go pig hunting it will be with my 7.62x39 AR but that's more to justify the purchase than thinking it's an ideal pig popper. I do have a 500S&W handi and might try it if I get a second go at it.

(a second shot might come in handy though )

Anything you shoot will die and you will hear a very loud noise as you are kicked rearward.

I just got a 444 Marlin barrel for my Encore to use for deer here in the worthless nut state. Trying to find a good load and get it grouping good. Shots won't be over 200 yds.
