I have been wanting to have a custom rifle made for some time now and I think I'm ready to get the ball rolling.I want a falling block action,23-26" barrel, express sights,barrel-banded sling swivel,Talley mounts and rings, decent wood, color cased hardened reciever, chambered in 375 Flanged Magnum NE.A good working rifle, nothing too fancy for use in the field. My first choice for an action would be a Hagn, but that sadly to say is too expensive for my budget.I'd like to keep the overall price of the rifle with scope under $5,500 if possible.I'm leaning towards a Dakota Model 10 Magnum action.Other than the Hagn, does anyone have a suggestion for a good action for my project?Any other suggestions or advice for my new project?Does anyone have any experiance with this chambering? How do I measure myself for the proper length of pull?I'm 6'1".I'd like to hunt Africa someday for Leopard and Sable with this rifle. Thanks for any help you can offer.

ruger nr 1 in 375 hh is a fine choice to rechamber it. get a copy of john taylors african rifles and cartridges, its good writing about it there. it has a little bit lower pressurer than the h&H but it is a fine round . someone i know has a double for it and he uses it very much for very much hunting

I am having a 375 flanged built presently on a #1. Dan Petersen is reboring a 243 for me and I'm restocking it in a pretty piece of english walnut. Color case hardening of receiver will be done by Classic Guns. Brass from Buffalo Arms and dies from CH4. I'll probably have to add some weight since it will be a rather slim rifle. Good luck with yours! I would like to build a Hall falling block sometime and it should fit your price. The Ruger #1 or Browning 1885 would be good. The Dakota would be good. The BF 97 might be big enough for that. I keep planning to build one on a TC Encore. For $5k, I have even seen a couple of vintage single shot rifles in 375 Flanged.
