Heres my Wesson being converted slowly to a "Henry", a few of the modifications so far are cut off of the radius in lower front of the action, reducing the size of the button release on the lever, drastic reshaping of the hammer and a radius added to the front receiver ring. A few more changes to come before its "Mine", maybe a stalking safety. Steve Before and After

Thanks for the images. What's the arrangement of the firing pin on those?

It has a rebounding lock and a transfer bar that strikes a inline firing pin. Steve

I take it the firing pin is straight and diagonals from the upper rear corner down to the primer. The transfer bar takes the lateral thrust of the firing pin so that the hammer's bearing doesn't have to. Spiffy. Is the firing pin retained with a simple cross pin or is a gas sealing arrangement used?

Skb, What caliber will your's be? I've mentioned that my Wesson #1 is being completed now, in 333 Jeffery Rimmed. What barrel length for you? I sort of wimped out with a 25" tube....26 or 27 inches would have probably looked better. Garrett

Garrett, .450 3&1/4" with a 28" Krieger barrel, should be a fun little whitetail gun. Might do for Africa too. The .333 is a neat round. Steve

FWIW, My Henry in 450 express has a 29 1/2" tube on it and it feels as well as looks great. NRA Life ASSRA Life DRSS Today's Quote: Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. FWIW , Steve is close to finishing his newest action. It is a copy of the Wesson #1 Mid-Range with center hung hammer. He told me that he wanted to have it finished for the Raton shoot but back orders on the #1 LR has slowed him down some. There was an action shown in Grants book that is a slab side compared to the oval action --- this will probably be the overall appearence. Just finished my own 44-70 Wesson. ken Ken Hurst 910-221-5288
