I have an older Contender frame, pre-easy open frame, from 1979. It's never been a problem for me to open, but I have recently outfitted it with a couple of new carbine barrels for my 10 year old daughter to shoot, one is a 22 lr, for practice and squirrels and rabbits, the other is the 6.8 SPC for deer. She just doesn't have the hand strength to break it open yet. It will get easier as she gets older, but is a problem for now. If my memory serves me, it seems like there used to be an accessory extension you could attach to the rear of the trigger guard to increase the leverage to open it. Does anyone remember this? Was it a TC product, or aftermarket? If anyone has one of these they want to part with, please PM me. Also, if anyone knows if these are still offered somewhere, please let me know. I looked through the TC website, but didn't see anything there. I know I could send in my frame to be "upgraded" to the easy-open configuration, but I'd rather not, since I still use the Contender myself, mostly as a handgun.
