I've been told by several people that the 2006 Ruger catalog lists the No1 Tropical chambered for 9.3X74R! I have not been able to find a 2006 catalog from Ruger, and I would like to know if anyone here has seen this listing in the No1, and if so, could someone scan the page from that catalog for the 9.3 Ruger No1, and post it! Confused

If this is so, it would follow that some ammo company in the USA would start selling factory ammo for this chambering. I have two double rifles chambered for 9.3X74R, a 140E S/S Merkel double rifle, and a Winchester O/U Grand Europian, ands both are real partners for the 9.3 single shot! beer

Well I guess Rws2 answered my question, but I'd still like to see it for myself! Does anyone know the MSRP for the No1 so chambered?

http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdView?model=11319&return=Y MSRP $1000.00 But it's a crying shame they chose that stubby little 22 inch barrel. If they'd made it with a proper 26-28 tube I'd have to put up or shut up...

I, like you, would rather have a 26" barrel, but i can live with the shorty 22" Alex Henery type rifle. I have two double rifles chambered for 9.3X74R and the Ruger will make a fine scoped partner to the doubles! LOOK OUT RUGER, here I come! clap

Go to www.ruger-firearms.com and click on new products. When the new page appears click on "New Rifles". The #1 will be at the very bottom of the page that comes up. I was quite excited to hear about this as I love the rifle and the cartridge. It should be a great combination.

Hey 9.3 Riflemen, the little 9.3X74R is one of my all time favorites as well. The Ruger no1 is also one of my all time favorite rifles.

My real passion is S/S double rifles, and the first double rifle I ever owned was a H&H best grade side lock double rifle, cased with all the attendant things that go in the case with a H&H double rifle of that quality. I bought this rifle from a gun store in El Paso, Texas in 1958, for the unbelievable price of $900, and had to borrow that! I had this little double for three years, and never fired it! Componants for loading a 9.3X74R cartridge in El Paso, Texas, in 1958 were as scarce as hen's teeth. I traded this little jewel for a rifle I could get ammo for. The rifle I traded it for was not with me long, and would I love to have that little H&H today! In the condition it was in, today that rifle would be worth in the neighborhood of $80,000.

Today is still have two of the 9.3 doubles I've owned. One is a Merkel S/S mod 140E, and the other is a Winchester Grand Europian O/U double. I want the Ruger for a scoped partner to my Merkel S/S. Now if Ruger will do a No1 chambered for 450/400NE 3" .......... Wink

Oh how I wish we could go back in time and undo some of our gun transactions! I could really feel the pain as you told me about trading that rifle. You sure have a nice set of 9.3 x 74R rifles and the scoped #1 ought to feel right at home. I have to apologize however. I should have paid better attention to the responses before me as they gave you the same basic information. I guess I was too excited after seeing the Ruger #1 in 9.3x74R with my own eyes on their website. Happy shooting!

I too wish they had built this with a 26" barrel. in my opinion both the 9.3 and the .405 should have been built in the 1S configuration with a slightly smaller diameter barrel and 26" long. I also wish the would bring back the 1S in all the calibers the 1B is offered in. There are some great calibers that would be far better suited(and balanced) with the 26" barrel and Henry forend. Just my 2 cents.

I too like Ruger No1's. And the 9,3x74R would be a great calibre for a No1. However I think you should just scope your 9,3 Merkel, and have the best of all hunting rifles a scoped 9,3x74R Double Rifle. clap thumb Cool Big Grin

I have a lot of Ruger No1s, and I really want one chambered for 9.3X74R, but you are right! The $1000 bucks to buy the Ruger would install a quality set of QD scope bases, and rings on my 9.3 Merkel. That is most likely what I'll end up doing. I have run out of room for rifles in my vaults, anyway! thumb

you guys might find this an interesting off-shoot to your 9.3 topic...
three years ago i had a winchester hiwall made by ballard rifle in wyoming. beautiful rifle in 9.3 x 74r, exhibition wood, 30" #3 octagon barrel, accurate to .625" @ 100 yds.

just 'cuz, (for no good reason except the challenge of it) i created a new (to me... and you?) a new cartridge to rechamber it. i took the .375 flanged mag and necked it down to 9.3 so that i've got a 9.3/.375 flanged mag. haven't got the dies back from z-hat yet (incredibly slow, 6 months!) so i haven't fired it. sound like fun?

Just look'n at my 06 Ruger catalog and they list the 9.3 with a 24" pipe. same as the rest of the 1H's. has anyone got one yet that can confirm this? It would at least be a step up from 22".

That 9.3x375 Flanged sounds like a neat project. Please let us know more after you get the dies back and load some up.
