I saw this abomination in a local gun shop this afternoon. The owner said it's the very last #1 model that Ruger is making. It has a very short barrel and an ugly break. I wish they had finished with something more classy, or classic. Oh well. I just noticed that there are several for sale on gunbroker. Remember, though, that once you see one, you can't unsee it! Matt FISH!! Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984: "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Ugly brake that isn't needed on a 7½lb single shot, I can see the use of a brake on an AR for quick follow ups for multiple hogs, but not on a single shot with 308win/30-06 recoil.

It is a good source of Ruger single shots in stainless. I'll probably buy one just to convert to something useful.

I liked the SS and laminated No1. I do not understand braking the 450 bushmaster it is barely a 45/70. I know most laud what Ruger has become. I am not one of them. Without the revolver line they would have nothing I want. I own a lot of Rugers. I got my M77 22 mag.

It appears as though they have changed the stock design. I like Rugers, the Africans and Guides are awesome guns. The American's are great little guns that cost nothing. I was originally against the idea, but they are so good it is hard to hate them.

Perhaps it was done for those customers who anticipate installing a suppressor, i.e. pre-threaded. I think most people wanting a stainless steel, short barreled, .45 cal with a brake would be looking at a Marlin 1895 in .45-70 or .450 Marlin. Alternatively, they could buy a Ruger Gunsite Scout or American Ranch Rifle in .450 Bushmaster. The Ruger No.1 was styled after the traditional British single shot rifle and that is the appeal it still has for most consumers. .

That is what I was thinking. I like stainless firearms the only thing that would make it better would be a syt. stock

The brake is huge. It looks like it belongs on a 50 cal Barrett. Then they belled the barrel just behind the break. If you like to surpress I am cool with that, but if suppressing is what the Ruger brass were thinking could the have used a smaller or less obnoxious looking break. I guess the bell in the barrel would be flush to the rear of the break. Others can do what they want. The majority has spoken, the modern rifle crazy has found its way on one of the most classy and iconic rifles produced by a major US firearms manufacturer. I do not like it. I think most who would buy a Ruger no1 do not like it, but it is the world. So, if you do buy it, and I hope you enjoy it. I would rather have 24 to 26 inch barreled 45/70 or 450 ne with good sites, or 375 FLM, or 9.3, or 348. I did get the 450ne. Would have got 9.3x74 but they put a stubby 22 inch barrel on it. I am guilty to a degree instead of a tropical 375hh, I got a 22 inch 375 Ruger in No1. Good thing my taste do not run Ruger as it would be out of business. I do hope the last image of a Ruger No1 in the catalog is not this.
