Has anyone tried shooting black powder rounds out of a NEF 45-70? Just curious. Me and a buddy picked a pair up (in 10 days that is!) to play around with. We'd like to try some black powder rounds through them . . . -eric " . . . a gun is better worn and with bloom off---So is a saddle---People too by God." -EH

It has been done thousands of times. I don't own one but have friends that like them. They shoot well with black, as they should. Brent When there is lead in the air, there is hope in my heart -- MWH ~1996

Check out Junior Doughty's page on the black powder Handi... http://www.castbullet.com/shooting/1871.htm There are also several black powder handi shooters at the GBO NEF/H&R Centerfire forum.. http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f...271f2b3a4ef59141c109

I've done it a few times while letting my Sharps cool down, and it was fun. Goex FFG BP loads with 405 cast Meister bullers offered pretty decent accuracy.

I bought a Buffalo Classic yesterday. http://www.hr1871.com/firearms/index.php?cat=4&subcat=23 As soon as I can round up the proper components I'll be shooting BP rounds. There are some folks that are reaming out the 45-70 barrels to 45-100, 45-110 and even 45-120! ZM
