I have been looking for a lockable gun case that I could stow in the bottom compartment of my Cabelas duffel bag, that could house my Encore and a revolver.

I like the idea of baggage handlers not knowing there is a gun case to throw as far as they possibly can or drop from the highest point they can find. I kept looking for something that would fit in the 14" x 31" x 4.5" lower compartment, which was difficult. I finally found a Doskocil lockable case, called a Deluxe Series Accessory Case, # 10505 with the right dimensions 14" x 26" x 5.25".

Here is what it looks like:









I lock the hard case after inspection by the airline & TSA. Then add a zipper padlock to the lower compartment. Now how to handle the ammo issue? Since the ammo can not be in the same case as the firearms, which technically it is not, although, it would be in the same checked bag.

I might have to check a second bag/container with the ammo?

This case would be perfect for packing optics on an international trip.

Looks like a good system to me. Be sure and bring a few extra shells to Idaho, I might want to bust a cap or two out of your guns, they look nice.
