Hi, does anyone have any experience with the Armi Sports 1874 sharps? 45-70.
Are they capable of good accuracy?
Do they need the sights replaced with something of better quality? Or are the stock sights good enough?

I jusr ead about the Armi Sport Sharps 45/70 + many more calibers 1in18 twist , sounds like a good rifle , I don't have one ! I have a Shilo! and several Rem/Rol/Blks 45/70 45/90 I vote Rem/Rol/Blks over Sharps , Before getting one at $$$$ Bucks Take a look at www.gunbroker.com

I have one in 40/65. I like it. I have a friend who shoots it better than I can, but it stays with me. Big Grin Fit and finish is very good. The set triggers are very good. It has fairly plain wood but is finished better than the Shilo I handled today. Over all, one of my favs.

Thanks
I picked one up a couple of months ago to test BP lube in, but I've been way to busy and haven't even shot it yet.Frowner
I'd heard a couple of people badmouthing them, but some guys just need something to talk down, no matter what it is. So I was wondering if I should sell it while it's still in new condition and get something else or ...
It's their top of the line version in 45-70 with checkered walnut, German silver fore cap, patch box, vernier sight...
It's almost Deer season now, then Elk season... It may be awhile yet before I get around to shooting it.
thanks for the input.
Glenn.

Man, I need to see that one! An armisport finished better than a Shiloh...wow! None of the shops here in the Boise area will carry them... It really has a walnut stock and a lifetime warranty? I have seen several and all of them featured wood to metal fit with no gaps over 1/8". Could you please, please, please, post a couple pictures?

the reason I sound a bit skeptical, I have NEVER seen one at a BPCRS match or read about one being competed with. The Uberti...yes, but never an armisport.

The Shilo wood didn't seem like it had been filled well at all. All the pores were quite open. It was a very nice looking gun besides that. Just was surprised about that point. To bad too, it was killer grain.
