| What mistakes did you make? I am a new Encore owner and am totally frustrated with the scope/mount on mine. I notice of the T/C custom shop they are offering to put up to six or eight mount holes in the barrels so this problem must be universal. I am using the weaver one piece base with the two rings/mounts and I just cannot get the pieces tight enough to keep the scope from moving front to back in the rings.
Help!! |

| Which scope do you have? Do you reload? One thing you should definitely do is tighten each scope base screw independently and make sure that they are not bottoming out, if they are, you need to shorten the screws. If you reload, there are some things you can do to improve your accuracy. Another thing you could do is float your forend by taking some real duct tape (the silver shiny stuff that sticks like heck) and cut 1/2 inch squares out and put em over the screw holes where the forend screws into the barrel, then cut just enough out to allow the screw to go through. A website that has been a wealth of information for me is Bellm Tc's bellm tc's website.Hope this helps, and don't be afraid to ask questions. |

| Highck, thanks for the input and my scope is the t/c hunter 1.5X5X32 silver. I have "stood" on each screw and have tried to stay away from the locktite as I may want to move the scope to other barrels in the future and hear it is some hassel to get the pieces loose once the locktite is applied. I will try the tape idea but must get the scope movement resolved first. I have just reinstalled the base, mount, rings and scope and will see if that has solved the problem and then move to the taping etc.
If this does not work Utah, I may try the Burris rings with the plastic.
I had hoped this t/c would be a simple purchase and shoot for my granddaughter but it has now become a full time job!
Barrel is the stainless 24" heavy barrel 7-08 and I have been shooting the Federal HE and Hornady LM SP's. I do not reload. Don't think at this point it much matters what is being shot as accuracy is not a question, yet as I need to get it "on paper" first! |

| I think by "shiny" you mean double sided tape? I have heard of others talking about this "fix". I will try it before going to the red loctite. It is hard to believe that a little scotch tape will protect from recoil pressure vs screws but hey, an engineer I am NOT! |

| So Duct Tape! Ok, which part of the rings/scope does the tape adhere to? See I told you I was not an engineer "type". |

| I own an Encore that didn't shoot too good. Mike's site (Bellm.com) and the people that moderate it helped me imensely. I would like to add something here. The screws that come with your mount may be too long. I had to "trim" mine down. I seated the mount in epoxy after treating the barrel with a releasing agent. One last thing, make sure no wood is touching the barrel. Use spacers to get the wood off the barrel. When bench resting stay as close to the action as possible with your bags. |
