Well guys, it took a long time, but here "she" is - my K95 in 6,5x57R. Set her up yesterday, but still must wait a few more days for going to the range as not OK so far... Set up with my Swarovski PV-N 3-12x50 with SR-rail and illuminated 4A-I reticle which was sitting already in my safe, so... Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us and then I made some more changes: I put one of my LED-Sights as the front sight and a Heym Keiler-rear sight on it... (both easy 1:1 exchange within 5 minutes) here without the LED-Illumination Uploaded with ImageShack.us and here with the LED on... Uploaded with ImageShack.us You should be able to hit your target easily even in the night with it (close distance of course only)...  Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us

You know, I´m not a Blaser-Fan, but this is a nice rifle. And a good chambering. Good luck at the range and then "Waidmanns Heil". Martin

Beautiful rifle. Whats the purpose of that "knob" on the front sight in the fifth picture?

All the K 95's I have seen shot or shot myself have been some of the most accurate hunting rifles on the Planet. uwave, that knob turns on the illuminated front blade on the front sight. While I do not have one on any of my Blasers, I have handled barrels that did have them. They work real good. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

This is the switch and battery compartment to turn the LED illumination ON - see this here: So You have a small red illuminated dot - and this gives you much more performance of the open sights as You ever known before... You could shoot even in the dark with your open sights if necessary... read more here: http://www.titanium-gunworks.c...ht-daynightfire.html Klaus

Scuba, Love the K95, have a .308. What is Different about the 6.5x57R compared to the 6.5x55?
|

The rim? The greates different is the CIP max. pressure. The 6,5x55 have 3800bar and the 6,5x57R have 3300bar. So, the x55 have a little bit more power. The rimmed round was created for combinated and break opening rifles, with a "weaker" action. The 6,5x57R is a "classic" German hunting round and "flatter" shooting, as the 8x57IRS or the 7x57R. Because it's in a K95 with the jaeger block many of us have loaded the 6.5x57R to 270winchester pressures with great success. Very high quality RWS brass and a strong action that takes Weatherby cartridges. Mine own K95 6.5x57R has a 26" barrel and shoots 100gr hornady soft points at 3,300fps under (from memory) 54gr N160. Much of the load data for the 6.5x57R uses the lower break open rifle pressures (without the strong actions) and smaller amounts of fast powder such as N140. It is a great cartridge and a lovely rifle - Enjoy!

Thats the wonderful thing about the design of the break open K95, it created to handle todays modern high intensity rounds....

It´s not importend how strong the K95 is. In Germany it´s not allowed by law, to reload cartridges over the CIP max. pressure. The max. pressure for the 6,5x57R is 3300bar(~48.000psi). That´s one reason, why we don´t get a few +P factory round´s, like .45-70 +P or .45ACP +P. No CIP and you cann´t order it. Martin
