It started life in the raw from NECG,then milled down to proper size,it will be filed in at the range for my cast bullet load.

Appreciate your photos of your No.1. Just nearing finish of build on No.1 but in 348Win. and believe will do the pad and sight as you show. Looks very nice indeed.

Is the rear sight installed backwards? I thought the notch goes forward to eliminate glare.

I have three others installed that way and have had no problem. Also the V notch has not been filed in yet.
How would it reduce glare the other way around?

I'd also like some data on the pad. Either that or give up the name of your gunsmith, and I'll keep him busy for a month or so.

The pad in a Pachmayr, red 1" Deactelator. He does a little trick at the end by polishing out the sides on his buffer with 800-1000 grit polishing compound. It cleans up well.

Nice rifle. I've got the Limbsaver on my .400/.450 N.E. 3Inch and love it for when I heat up the loads in the Ruger #1. I've got the same Pachmayer on my Winchester SS/synthetic in .411/.416 Rem. Mag. Both work equally well as far as I can tell.

Like the look of the decelerator. Put a Limbsaver on mine. No question about it being a vast improvement over the Ruger pad. I've run 20rds of Hornady factory 400gr and 30 rds or so of 320gr cast (2041fps) thru it all in one session, definitely better.
I'm debating on an NECG rear peep for it, I think the 3 leaf express rear would be cool, but, more work to setup.Have to make up my mind on how ambitious I feel about it.

That's a great looking rifle! I'm working on a similar project on a Number 1 in 458 Lott. I especially like that new rear sight. Did you fit it yourself, or did someone else do it? I've considered the same sight, however if I fit it I would have to do it by hand, and would probably ruin 1 or 2 before I got it done.
