I'm interested in this also. Let us know where you find a source for a barrel, and other details.

Thanks,KB

Kabluewy, I am going to get a barrel for the encore in 450/400 from SSK, e-mailed them and can get 25 in blue heavy taper barrel for 410 dollars. Soon as my tax check gets back I am going to order a barrel.

So, ?? why is 400 grains at 2000 fps +/- better than 300 grains @ 2200 + fps with the same diameter better? The Encore comes standard in the 405 Winchester without the extra cost of a custom barrel. My experience with the 405 Win has been nothing short of devastating (Barnes X @ 2265). Although, I hope I learn something new as I haven't bought a new barrel in six months and it is bothering me.

Mighty Joe,I already have a .405 Win. barrel for my encore, like it alot. I admire some of the old English cartridges and as I will never have the money to buy the original rifles I choose to get barrels for them when I can. Just because someone wants a diffrent barrel does not mean that another caliber is not just as good, I am very pleased that your .405 is giving you good service I want to try something diffrent. I intend on getting a 500-465 barrel if I can and it is safe on the encore platform, do I need it probably not. Do I want it yes, and will get it if safe. LATER MY FRIEND
