Found some of the above bullets for sale. Thinking about trying them as plinking rounds. Has anyone tried them in a .45-70 #1 Ruger? Any suggestions/resources on load data? Comments? Dumb stunt or waste of time and money? What do you think? Thnaks for any opinions. "It ain't lion hunting unless you get stitches." - John in WYO "It became aquatic, briefly." Your only concern will be twist. If I'm not mistaken, the Rugers have always had much slower twist barrels than the 458's. Since you are considering plinking loads, I am presuming reduced velocities, which will make the problem worse. I once rechambered a No 3 to 45 Basic, and got stabilization of 500's, but did so by driving them to Weatherby velocities. I always liked the 300 Hornadys for 45 cal reduced loads. | |||
