Got tired of Ruger's teasing so I had Gary Reeder blueprint and rebarrel a 30-06 #1 to 9.3x74R.

It would have arrived yesterday, but nobody was home to sign for it so UPS has to re-deliver it today.

Pictures and range report to follow shortly!!

probably the only way you'd get one in the forseeable future. I keep thinking about rugers double - advertise it for 3 years before they make it. Dumb Chits

That's a great use for a Ruger #1, especially one in 30-06. Wink I have been thinking about doing that myself. How long is your barrel?

That's what I did when Ruger took forever to produce the #1 in .405. Mine is a 1-B and it made it to Africa before Ruger's hit the shelves.

Had a slight setback; when I opened the box the Leupold 1.5-5 had about 5 degrees of longitudinal deflection (it was obviously bent) and when I took it out of the rings it came apart at the turret into two pieces.

A backup 4x compact Burris is on it now and it shoots tomorrow.

Rick R.- I bet this one crosses the pond before any stockers too.

Dr. Lou - it's a heavyish 21.5 inch barrel; I envisioned it as an elk/kudu/zebra/250 yard max sort of tool: easy to carry, good balance, and shooting the same loads as my Chapuis double. We traded off some barrel length to get the weight to come in at 9.0 lbs all up.
