Gentlemen-

Please, the straight dope on the Stevens Model 40.
What's the upper pressure limit of this action?

Not asking for an ok to do stratospheric wildcatting on one of these.
I know the 44-1/2 is better.
Also, I know that some of the later Model 40 actions had a special feature on the hammer to support the higher pressure rifle cartridges -- my interest is around one of the earlier ones.

Thanks.

The pre intro press said is was to be a .223 also, but to my knowledge never made production. Does that mean hornet pressure only? Don't know.
