A question for all those people that have a Moulds Speed hammer in their No 1s. Have they made a difference in accuracy for you?

Absolutely, it makes a BIG difference. All the records set with the # 1 have been set using the Moulds Speed Hammer. Check out the Ruger # 1 group for pictures of the record groups fired in all of the four caliber classes of the Bench Rest shoots. If you want to see for yourself try this simple test:

Set your # 1 up on a good set of sand bags, put an empty shell in your gun, set your scope on the highest power if it's a variable, dry fire the shot watching the crosshairs very close, you will see them jump about 1 or two inches on the target at 100 yds. depending on the weight of the gun, a heavy gun will jump less but you will still see muzzle jump. repeat the same test with the Speed Hammer, you will see very little muzzle jump if any with the lighter # 1's and no muzzle jump at all with a heavy # 1-V.

Brownells sells them too.

My question was for the people that have rifles with speed hammers. Do they work for you? Have they made a difference in the accuracy of your rifle? Or are you indifferent to them because you didn’t see any gains after installing one?

I know “Single Shot†is a big fan of them and I’ve had some success with them. I was wondering what other people thought.

And then again, maybe no one here except for a hand full of people actually use them.

Mick,
It may be that there are more hunters here than shooters, if that's the case most hunters seem to be happy with most anything that's pretty and goes bang, shooters seem to be a more picky type and want something more than things that are just pretty and make noise, this may be the start of a good blond joke.
