OH MAN, I've heard nothing but piss poor things about those #1's--poor made, poor materials, sometimes they won't fire-shell cases get stuck, can't shoot straight etc...

wouldn't you rather have a savage 99 in .243?? (CD series A with a 3x9x40 scope) I just happen to have one I might trade straight up for that Ruger-heck i WOULDN'T EVEN ASK FOR $$ TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE

I have no idea about the answer to your question but I want you to know I am jealous!!

Good luck

Dave

Just got a Ruger #1 in 25/06 and was wondering about accuracy from this rifle. What can I expect? How tight should the forearm screw be, or should I just have the barrel glass bedded and floated?

Too much snow here to get to the range!!!

Go over to the Ruger No.1 Group on Yahoo. The have a bunch of information in archives and a lot of people there will help you. My suggestion is shoot it before you do anything. Then use a rubber washer cut to fit between the bbl and the hanger. That is the cheapest way to go initially. I went the glass route. I get groups under an inch but mine is a 1B. A 1V should shoot target rifle groups. Replace the factory trigger with a Kepplinger set trigger or some other trigger. Good luck

I have a #1 in 218 Bee. I installed a Moyers trigger and worked up an accurate load. Best group (5 shot) so far .233". Average groups are right around a half inch. Except the trigger, the rifle rifle is box stock. I wouldn't do anything to it until you see how it shoots
