Went to the rifle range today to fire form some shells for my 257AI.
The gent two benches away was shooting a Pedersoli Sharps 45/70 and strangely would fire 2-3shots then shake his head like something was wrong. Looking to help, I asked and he said his problem was that he couldn't see where the shots were going as his spotting scope was only a cheapy and had fogged up over the years.
I used mine and saw a nice 3 shots cutting each other and so continued to spot the last two for him. One went into the existing group and then a 'flier' about 5/8" away. We both measured that group at a nice 0.92"
Sub MOA from a replica rifle, black powder and a home cast lead projectile with peep sights! He tells me he is 64 years old!

Now you've done it! I've been thinking of getting a Pedersoli .45-70 Sharps. Now if I can't get it to shoot like that I am going to be POed. Oh yeah, I'm 64 y/o.

Take the plunge and buy one. I bought a Pedersoli Sharps 'Long Range' last year in 50/70. I can't boast that it shoots anything thing like that, but there is sure a lot of pleasure watching 50 cal holes appear in the target.

Nope, I don't work for Dixie, in fact, I hardly ever buy anything from them. But last week I went looking for an original style firing for my Shiloh Sharps, just in case I need it someday, and while searching on Sharps, I found this.

Hey, Iowa huh? Where? I'm in Ames obviously. Same Paul that I know ordered up a Dixie last week or so? Your's would be the second Pedersoli bought this month in Iowa that I know of. Another Amesite bought a .45-120 used...

What model did you select. Besides the 50/70 Sharps, I got a Pedersoli Rolling Block in 45/70 but I think I might trade up to a Sharps.

There is a dealer in Melbourne that has a 1886 38/56 for sale and it's about 95% original finish. Wish I had the bucks $AU7500!

Isn't that kind of an experience just plumb disgustin'??
