I just got my 22 lr rifle barrel from Mike at MbmCo. This is the one without a rimfire adapter. It looks fantastic, quality is everywhere. The muzzle has what looks like a perfect crown, welding, extractor are all great. The neat thing is the chamber, it is not cut with a reamer at all. Hard to explain but the bullet is pushed into an area(when chambering a round) before the lands and grooves that swages the bullet to bore diameter or something like that which eases the entry to the lands. It looks like that Mike uses a slightly taller lug which sets the bore a little higher, the case is struck on the lower rim. I'll post pic's soon.

Nice work huh? I just got a new 17 K Hornet from him, I have to sit here and just look at it until I get the dies [Frown]
Also, had him clean up a bbl in 25-35 Win. that I had, he basicly turned a tent peg into a gold bar.
O.T.T. Mike will be going places with the quality of work he is turning out.

Isn't that a cool barrel I got to see that kind of barrel done by Mike two weeks ago. I'm really thinking about a 22 mag barrel now.

I'm hoping to have a bbl made up in 22 savage hipower. going to Rebarrel my #1 220 swift to 25-06, the throat is shot out of the swift but the rest of the bore looks real good, going to send it to Mike and see if he can work some magic out of it.

Took the 25/35 aka 25/3030 out last week, only had 9 rounds and they were put together rather quickly but once sighted in (5 shots) I got a 4 shot group that was what I'm calling, smiling close. I do believe this is going to be an accurate bbl.
BTW 30-30 brass formed perfectly from the dies, that is, the die and chamber are just identical
I havent done any measuring yet as I'm going to form 50-100 cases to get a good consistent lot but I'll bet there ain't much change in that case size from die to chamber [Big Grin]

Hey Rich Jake, that may have been my barrel at Mike's. I posted some pic's over at hunt101.com. I tried to add some here but can't get it to work.
We didn't have a range at Schofield Bks. this weekend so I went to KoKo Head public shooting range here on Oahu today and found out a few things about my OTT 22 lr barrel. At 50 yds it shot 1 hole groups(and yes I did fire more than one round for each group for you smart ninnies)LOL. And that was with Wildcat ammo. I tried some of the Lapua 'Match Rifle' ammo and it shot a 2.5 to 3 inch pattern at 50 yds. I then noticed it said on the box 'For Bolt Action Rifles Only'. I guess that explains why it doesn't work in my Encore rifle. At 100 yds the best I could get was 1.5 to 2 inches, but as anybody that shoots at KoKo Head Range knows the wind is murder on 22's especially at 100 yds. Plus the scope was kinda crappy and the trigger was, wait a minute I'm getting carried away with the excuses. Mike Sirois has done a good job for me on this one. The honest truth about this one, it's a definite keeper and I'm already planning my next barrel from him. Hopefully we will have a range next weekend.

Don't know if it was his barrel or one he was testing. All I know is they look & shoot good. I also like the fact that there is no need for an adaptor to shoot the darn thing. From some of the accuracy that I have seen on the OTT barrels I can't wait to get my 26" 280 AI barrel made.

Thanks Steve,

Glad you like it. RJ that was Steve's bbl we were playing with. You may just want to try the wicked cheapo Remington Long Rifle hollow points in it Steve.

Thanks again,

I'll have to look some more for the cheapo Remington stuff over here. Wally world doesn't sell guns or ammo over here. About the only place to buy new guns or ammo is at 4 or 5 sporting goods stores. The pawn shops don't even sell guns or ammo. And I do like it very much, you are also making my next barrel by the way, don't know what it will be yet but it'll come from you. Thanks again.
