. I don't have an 1885 in 405. I've thought about getting one a couple of times. Here's some loads from Reloaders Nest on the 405 that should work fine for deer. http://www.reloadersnest.com/query_bw.asp?CaliberID=84&BulletWeight=300 . Happiness is a tight group

Gi, This year I used my #1 in .405 for Coues in AZ, and I used a 210 Rem JSP pistol bullet. I was able to get very decent groups at 200 yards, and the bullets are much cheaper. Jesse

Gi, I have a old double rifle chamberes for the .405WCF. I loaded a few different bullets, beginning with the 300grs SP from Woodleight and the Hornady FN. Now I changed to the Hornady 210grs XTP/HP, with 52grs Norma N200 and to a 265grs Lead FN-GC bullet, with 30grs of Vith N110. Both are regulated for my double at 50m and shooting very well. Hunting experience I don´t have, sorry. Martin

I get ~2500fps with a max load of Benchmark under the Hornady 300gr SP from a 28" barreled H&R using Hodgdon data. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

I have an 1885 repro in 405. I have had success with both Hawk and Barnes 300 gr bullets. Velocity can easily exceed the 2400 fps loads most recommend. Mine have been clover leaf to 1 ragged hole accurate. The loads were done by Conley Precision. It is a deer killer for sure, but still nothing like my new 'primitive' weapon...a 358 STA

Jesse, What loading data did you use for the 210 bullets. I've been looking for this information, but never found any. Thanks Rob

As with all load data, use at your own risk and reduce the load by 10% and work up. I used a max charge of 55 grain of Reloder 7 with a 210 grain pistol bullet. Jesse
