Hello, I need a little help from others that have a Ruger no. 1 in 450/400. I just got one a few months ago and it is a blast (pun intended) but I need some reloading information help. I am thinking of using these bullets: (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/160191/hunters-supply-hard-cast-bullets-405-winchester-412-diameter-315-grain-lead-flat-nose-box-of-50). I was thinking of resizing them with a lee resizer to .410, and using it like a black powder express rifle for target shooting and possibly deer hunting. Or, if you can, recommend some cheap deer level bullets that would work. Also, what powder are you and loads are you all using? I want to set this rifle up for both black powder express lead loads and be able to switch to heavy loads when I want. Thanks in advance Next? Jordon

I bought one a couple of years ago + also purchased a set of G.C. moulds.Frankley,I was very dissapointed in the accuracy of the lead while the jacketed worked fine.I cast for many calibres with good results so I don;t think that it's me (although I will take the blame);just a gremlin in my loading room.BTW I was using 5744 powder

If you do a search of the Single Shot forum for "Ruger No.1 .450/.400 NE Range Report" posted Sept.1, 2010 you will find a report I made for my .450/.400 and several good follow up comments by others. Sorry but I don't know how to post the link.

Went to the loading room today + pulled my info. Using 5744....30G.=1450,40G.=1750,49G.=1950. This is using a 400 G.Cast. The ballistition at Accurate powders says that you may use the same data with the 400G. jacketed Woodleigh.Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the information it is really helping me on the path. FYI on open forums I prefer to post "dead" links that you can cut and search to make sure they are safe for your system, awhile ago My computer got a pop up virus when I let my Motherin law use it. I am still working on fixing that one. Again, Thank you Next? Jordon
