Thinking I might 'need' one. Anyone had any dealing with it as far as accuracy???? If not for the 17 in long rifle or magnum? Or should I go with a NEF rifle? thanks K2 in orygun

I have one. It's great! I use it for tree rats. I have read of people having trouble with them though.
At 60yd. it just shoots a ragged hole. The only other rimfires I have that will do that are custom rigs that cost many times the price of the 30R17.

I bought mine NIB at a gun shop near Charleston WV (little town named "Mink Sholes") for $149.00. They had several of them so I bought the one that had the best trigger. Some of them were awful!
I've seen these guns on the auction sites for a lot more than I paid for mine though. I don't know why.
Over at GGVG there's a fellow that had a new one that wouldn't even fire. He sent it back to the manufacturer........ twice. If you do a search at Rimfire Central you will see that a few other people have had similar problems, along with the common rough trigger.
I had a 4-12 Bushnell AO on hand and am using it on the 30R17.
I haven't had my action apart yet, but they are different from the old Favorites actions. Doesn't look too difficult to work on if you are experienced at trigger work though.
I think if I were going to buy another one I'd again buy it from a place where I could handle it before purchase as opposed to buying it on-line. That would reduce the chance of drawing a lemon.
However, it sells for a really good price and the accuracy is amazing.
