I attended the Big Bore shoot south of Houston today and Rusty was kind enough to allow me to shoot a few rounds over his chronograph. Here are the results for a 28 inch barrel .454 Casull.

Grizzly CTG 300gr Punch advertised 1550fps/7.5"
Velocity from 28" 1685fps

Hornady 240gr XTP/MAG advertised 1900/7.5"
Velocity from 28" 2400+fps

RBCD 130gr TFSP advertised 2800fps/7.5"
Velocity from 28" 3200+fps

I think I'll be keeping this rifle for awhile. Next I would like to try some 400 grainers. Normally I would not think the 1:25 twist in the 1885 would be fast enough for 400s but seeing how it tends to develop a significant velocity increase maybe it will work.
